Solar Permit Set Overview

An overview of our solar plan sets can be seen below. The solar plans come standard with the following pages:  cover page, site plan page, roof plan page, racking detail page, electrical diagram page, electrical calculations page, and labels page. Additional detail and pages can be added to fit the requirements of your solar project. Let us know if you need anything else and we will be happy to  provide it for you.

Cover Page

The cover page outlines the general information required for your building department. This includes the site address, with maps, contractor information, system summary, and design criteria for the site.

Site Plan

The site plan page provides detail of the solar project in relation to the property and site. Our site plans show the location of all major solar equipment and is drawn to scale.

Roof Plan

The roof plan page provides more detail of the solar array, drawn to scale. This includes array dimensions, electrical callouts, and fire setbacks. Array information and major racking component counts are provided on this sheet as well.

Racking Detail

The racking detail page provides specifications and detail drawings on the type of roof and racking system used. This includes roof and rafter type and spacing, array weight calculations, racking attachment spacing, and module clamping.

Electrical Diagram

The electrical diagram page includes all major electrical equipment for the project. A system overview describes the stringing of the system, as well as the electrical schematic. A conductor and equipment schedule provides the installer with the correct size and type of conductor and equipment to use. Our electrical diagrams are typically a three line diagram, but can be drawn as a single line if required.

Electrical Calculations

The electrical calculations page includes all DC and AC calculations for your project. This will satisfy the building plan review requirements for both DC and AC circuit calculations.

Labels

The labels page provides an easy to read guide for the location of labels needed for your project. The required labels are based off of the adopted version of the National Electrical Code and may vary among local jurisdictions. Let us know if anything is required in addition to our standard labels and we can include it for you.
